When was the last time you felt real joy? That feeling of you heart singing and feeling so good to be alive. What brings you joy? How often do you make time for it?
Happiness, I’ve learned, can be fleeting. Usually it’s a response to something beautiful – seeing a lovely sunset, a baby’s first smile, enjoying food and wine with friends, to someone offering an act of kindness, perhaps feeling understood. It comes from something external to us.
Joy, on the other hand, is internal and comes when we are aligned with our self. When we claim our gifts and see our uniqueness. When we connect to our soul purpose, that’s what brings us joy.
“When we constantly give, give, give to others,
often we’re left with nothing for our self and no joy.
We end up feeling resentful”.
When we feel trapped, it’s important to remember that we do have choice. We have the power to choose our thoughts, our words, and our actions. And our number one responsibility is to take care of our self.
When we open our heart, we can let go of our pain… and activate the diamond within our heart.
What do you choose? Joy, or pain?
What does the joy of being who you are bring to others? How do you impact the world around you? How do you take delight in being others?
